Port Howard is a sheep farming settlement on which the thirty or so inhabitants, look after approximately 42,000 sheep and 1000 cattle. Is the largest farm on West Falkland.
In a scenically attractive location, Port Howard is an ideal place to experience camp life and an excellent base from which to explore the fine landscapes of West Falkland. At the edge of Port Howard there are some well-marked minefields remaining the period when almost 1000 argentine troops occupied the settlement back in 1982. The settlement has a small museum housing relics of the 1982 conflict.
Guided excursions around West Falkland are available, including Roy Cove, Hill Cove, Fox Bay and several other interesting places and seabird colonies.
Port Howard is one of the best places to stay for sea trout fishing on the Warrah and Chartres rivers.
